Nearly one in four kids in America can’t count on having enough to eat. Their bodies may not be rail thin, nor their bellies bloated like their counterparts in other countries, but they’re at risk of hunger all the same. They lack the energy to learn, grow and thrive. Organizations like Share Our Strength are doing this by improving the access that families all across the country have to healthy, affordable food and by working at the state and city level.
Colorado Connection: In November 2009, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter issued an Executive Order creating the Campaign to End Childhood Hunger in Colorado. 
Since then, Share Our Strength and our local partner, Hunger Free Colorado, have been building a strong statewide coalition led by Lieutenant Governor Barbara O' Brien, which convenes an array of stakeholders, including the Colorado Department of Education and regional USDA staff.
