"Hunger, in its stark and highly visible forms, touches a chord in as because our own bodies, our own experience, enable us to relate in some way to the hungry. Our experience of God's goodness in our own lives and in so much that we know of God's goodness to others, equally convinces us that we are not doomed to sit by helplessly while we watch our hungry sisters and brothers die. Hunger, like the poverty that causes it, is not inevitable. We can make a difference. We can know a joy God intends for us - that of being both host and guest at the banquet of life." (From How You Can Be a Peacemaker by Mary Evelyn Jergen, SND)
- We have Hope: Just as Jesus joined his Father in heaven, we too can join together with our brothers and sisters here on earth to do our part to end hunger.
- We have Hope: God intends Joy for us, and we can help bring that Joy to others by filling them with nourishment for their body and soul.
- We have Hope: Our hearts are filled with the hope that our passion toward hunger relief will make a difference.
Day 2. Dollar 2. Almighty God, your blessed Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things. Mercifully give us faith to trust that, as he promised, he abides with us on earth to the end of time, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Prayer of the Day: Ascension of Our Lord)
