Day 35: Close the Window on Hunger

A Message from our Hunger Advocate friends at Champion Windows, Siding & Patio Rooms:

Putting an End to Child Hunger: did you know that in 2009, 19.5 million children received free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program but only 2.2 million of these same children participated in the Summer Food Service Program that same year? The fact is, every summer millions of children who depend on school lunch programs for their primary source of food for the day go hungry in the summer.

This summer, Champion Windows of Denver will be donating 50 pounds of food for each appointment we run, and an additional 100 pounds of food for each sale made. Visit their website today to learn more about these Hunger Champions!

Day 35. Dollar 35. Pound 35. We give thanks today for fellow drivers on this trek who are intentionally committed to raising hunger awareness, and passionate about making it happen! Together, we can close the window on hunger and open the avenue of hope!

  1. It's great to see the work that you are doing to address childhood hunger. Youth Service America and Sodexo are awarding grants to students and schools with ideas for service project that address the same issue.
